The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Edina Mayor Jim Hovland as program speaker at the Thursday, May 11, meeting. Mayor Hovland is also a member of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club.New member Heather Edelson will be officially inducted into the club at the meeting. And Rotarian Jen Tregarthen will give her classification talk.

Jim Hovland has been mayor of Edina since 2005, and was a member of the Edina City Council from 1997 to 2004. He is also co-chair of the Regional Council of Mayors, as well as serving as chair of the Transportation Advisory Board to the Metropolitan Council. He is a member and chair of several other local transportation and legislative commissions and committees.
Hovland is a board member of the Edina Community Foundation, and a member of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club.
He is an partner at the law firm Hovland & Rasmus, PLLC. He is married to LaRae Ellingson Hovland, who is a high school French teacher in School District 196, and father of two daughters and six grandchildren.
