Periodically we feature a newer member of the Rotary Club of Edina on our website. The Rotary Club of Edina welcomed Jake Johnson as a member in September 2017. Jake's sponsor to the club was Ann Platt.

Name: Jake Johnson

Classification: Banking

What was your first job? “Sales Associate”at the now defunct Snyder’s Drug Stores

Who was your first role model and why? The answer that jumps out is my dad, Brad Johnson, who worked incredibly hard to provide our family a comfortable standard of living. While working long hours he always made the time to be at my sister's and my activities, and kept his professional and respectful demeanor in all situations. I learned work ethic, business ethic, and more generally what it means to be a “good” person from my father.

Why did you want to join Rotary? Rotary seemed like a great way to get involved in the community in a way that helps others and makes a difference. I also was impressed with the open, friendly and communal atmosphere Rotary Club fosters.

What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? Learning about other Rotarians, their stories and trying to skim as much wisdom from the veteran members as possible. Doing so while making an impact on the local community makes Rotary even better.

What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? People drive everything. Treating people right, both customers and employees, is good business. If you get singly focused on the P&L at the detriment of your customers and employees, you will constantly be waging a losing battle.

Thanks for being part of our club, Jake!
