Doepner went to his first Minnesota Twins game in Minnesota on April 21, 1961 and he has been an addicted collector ever since, Until this year, he was the only full-time curator in major league baseball. As curator he collects, displays, archives, gives on-site presentations and off-site talks. He has three responsibilities when he obtains a piece of memorabilia:
- At least maintain its condition
- Learn and record all historical information relating to the item and
- When my time is no more, select my replacement to continue archiving Minnesota Twins memorabilia.
