Recent Edina High School graduate Nate Zachman was recently presented a $1,000 scholarship from the Rotary Clubs of Edina and Edina Morningside. The clubs
annually present a scholarship to a student who had participated and excelled in the Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Edina (STRIVE) program at the high school.
Through the STRIVE program, upperclassmen work toward their goals in a supportive atmosphere. Students in the STRIVE program have mentors they meet with twice per month and receive support and with academics and post-secondary planning while being held accountable.

Zachman plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, where he will study biochemistry.

“Nate has taken all opportunities to move toward his goals this year and has excelled,” said Heidi Howard,
Edina High School Program Coordinator for Academic Enrichment & Support. “He was committed to
spending time working on goals with his mentor, finished strong academically and served our school
community by tutoring other students in science. We are proud of his persistence and are excited that he
has decided to attend UW-River Falls in August. Nate loves science and hopes to pursue this in college.”
