Dr. H.L. Saylor, III is a Vascular Surgeon, Medical Director of Perioperative Services, and former Chief of Staff and former Chief of Surgery at Fairview Southdale Hospital.
 
Dr. Saylor will be discussing a true gem in the Edina community – Fairview Southdale Hospital. It is one of the largest employers in the city and has received a Five-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. It is one of only two hospitals in the metro to receive this honor, and one of less than 300 to receive this award nationally. He will discuss the benefits of having such a hospital for you and your family, and will talk about how YOU can make a difference in healthcare in our community.
Born and raised in Huron, South Dakota, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, graduated from medical school at the University of South Dakota, and completed his residency in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic, with a fellowship in Vascular Surgery.
 
He and his wife of 42 years, Jo Ellen, are longtime residents of Edina and Dr. Saylor has worked at Fairview Southdale Hospital, as well as multiple other hospitals throughout the metro area, for 35 years.  In addition to his work at Southdale, Dr. Saylor volunteered on the Board of Trustees for 13 years and was Chair of the Board for two years. He was named Outstanding Physician of the Year at Fairview Southdale Hospital in 2009.
 
Dr. Saylor is a member of the Edina Country Club, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery, as well as a member of the Minneapolis Surgery Society, Western Surgical, Priestley Society, and a member of the Southern Society of Clinical Surgery.
 
In his spare time, Dr. Saylor enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and watching local sports teams, including the Vikings and the Twins. He and his wife also enjoy spending time with their two daughters and five grandchildren who live in the metro area.
