Our The Rotary Foundation Bowl Commissioners (Sandy Schley and Tim Murphy) and their team captains are busy contacting all members to ask that everyone donate to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). It doesn’t matter if it is $26.50 (which was the first donation in 1916 to start TRF) or whatever amount you are comfortable with. Several of you have become Paul Harris Society members, which means you are committing $1,000 a year. Congratulations and thank you!

If our club raises $100,000 for TRF, in three years about $48,000 will be returned to our district for local and international grants. The remainder will stay in the international fund to match our international requests.

This year our club is benefiting from these funds:

  • We have received matching District 5950 funds of $9,000 for the 66 West Community Room. Our club’s investment is $14,500 for this project. Funds from other clubs bring the total project to $30,000.
  • Our commitment to the VEAP backpack program is $2,000. The program also received a District 5950 grant of $9,000  that came back from TRF.
  • We have been approved for a $308,000 project in Escuintla, Guatemala. Our club’s investment is $15,000 and the remainder is 5950 District matching funds, as well as matching funds from TRF. All these funds came from your donations to TRF. Our commitment is only 5 percent of the total. This project will include drilling a well and the building of a 40,000-gallon water holding tank for the well water. It is important not only to provide clean, safe water, but we need to deal with the satiation issues. That is why over 100 latrines are being built, which will help 4,000 people.

All of these projects would not have occurred without your donations to The Rotary Foundation. Thank you for your continued support of The Rotary Foundation as we continue to “Do Good in the World!"
