Rotary Club of Edina Speaker Guidelines
Rotary is the largest humanitarian service network in the world, with 1.2 million members, and 35,000 clubs in over 200 countries, from all backgrounds and religions, races, and ethnicities. Rotary has always been a non-partisan, non-denominational organization. Speakers are asked to respect this diversity and not endorse political candidates, parties, or particular platforms and ideas.
Speakers are asked to be mindful of Rotary’s “Four-Way Test" which asks:
Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Speakers are asked to provide a 20-minute presentation, which should include time for questions and answers. At times, speakers may need to grant consent if their presentation is going to be videotaped for broadcast on Edina Community Channel 16 and/or the internet. And although we don’t offer an honorarium, speakers will be thanked at the podium and a donation will be made in their name to a cause selected by the President of the Club for that Rotary year. For more information on speaking at the Rotary Club of Edina, please contact our 2020-2021 Speaker Committee Chair Don Hutchison, dhutchison@tufford-hughes.com.
